Example
Anna is a single working mom of three and says she has a positive attitude towards life. Her belief is that she can do it all on her own without the support of any man. Therefore, she says she values self-respect, self-trust, and independence. Yet, when Anna is with her children she spends the majority of the time complaining about her life. Complaining how hard it is to be her, and how bad people are. She warns her kids to keep their guards up when meeting new people and to never be vulnerable with them.
What Anna does not realize is that her mindset is living life through a fear filter and she is making unconscious decisions that only reaffirm the belief she has that people are untrustworthy. And you can note this through her language. As a result, her kids might end up living life through the same filter and the cycle continues for generations to come. Anna is unaware that she is making decisions that are in direct contradiction of the values, beliefs, and attitudes she thinks she has.
